Hello, I’m Petra Tabarelli – Midsomer Murders fan and a historian.

I was looking for a website like this and couldn’t find one – so I made it.
For others who, like me, were looking for it, and can now find it. Quite subtly.

Whether you’d like to share your thoughts, collaborate, or simply say hi – I’d love to hear from you.

Just drop me an email → click.

I’d really appreciate it!

I would like to point out that this is an unofficial fan site. I am not connected to Bentley Productions, ITV or the actors.

About me

I am a historian who has made a name for herself internationally through her research into the development of football rules and who works as an archivist. But I am also a fan of Midsomer Murders.

The rules of football have been researched, the developments drawn – now my focus is on staging history. So that the past can be experienced as authentically as possible. It’s about creating certain atmospheres, especially the Englishness that also underpins Midsomer Murders.

What could be more fitting than using Midsomer Murders as a case study? So this website started in 2023 with articles about the series’ connection to English history. It continued to grow with chronologies and articles about the history of Midsomer and a few filming locations I visited.

I must admit that my English heart beats geographically for the English north-east between York and Durham, but the filming locations of Midsomer Murders are, of course, very, very pretty and idyllic. Murderously idyllic!
