Re-Enactments

Already watched: Pilot, S01, 09×02, 09×03. As well as information that I have already compiled.

Note: There isn’t much to discover just yet – essays will be published gradually from late May. Until autumn, think of this more as a gateway than a library.

  • A Tale of Two Hamlets (06×04): Film recordings for The House of Satan
  • Bantling Boy (08×04): Medieval Festival with jousting tournament
  • The House in the Woods (09×01): Barbara and Leslie Flux always dress in more traditional clothing at home. Their aim – much to the annoyance of museum curator Giles Cato – is not historical accuracy or academic rigour, but rather to recreate the atmosphere of the past in order to understand it more deeply.
  • Four Funerals and a Wedding (09×05): Most spectators at the Skimmington Fayre are in costume – not from the post-WWI era, but in styles reminiscent of Tudor fashion, complete with white coifs.
  • They Seek Him Here (10×07): Film recordings for Scarlet Pimpernell
  • Shot at Dawn (11×01): Reconstruction of the First Day of the Battle at the Somme in Midsomer Parva
  • The Village That Rose from the Dead (19×01): A WWII-themed event with period-appropriate dress, hairdressers, music, and plenty of Union Jacks on the walls.
  • Death by Persuation (19×05): Gorgeous Georgians: For a few days, Regency and Jane Austen enthusiasts come together to dress and behave as if they were living in the Regency period. One evening features a formal ball, open also to guests from outside the circle of participants.
