Midsomer Murders: New Series Premieres in December – but not (yet) in the UK
Fans of Midsomer Murders may have to wait a little longer for new episodes. While ITV has yet to announce a UK broadcast date for Series 24, Series 25 will make its worldwide debut on Acorn TV in the US and Canada on Monday, 8 December 2025.
Acorn TV has released a short first trailer, offering a glimpse of the latest round of atmospheric — and reliably murderous — countryside mysteries.
What to expect from Series 25
The new run consists of four feature-length episodes, written and directed by several long-standing contributors to the series. Viewers can expect the familiar blend of rural charm, eccentric characters and elegantly baroque motives, including:
- a mudlarking murder on the Thames,
- a bowling-club killing,
- and a death at a prestigious grammar school.
Neil Dudgeon returns as DCI John Barnaby, with Nick Hendrix once again playing DS Jamie Winter. Series regulars Annette Badland (Dr Fleur Perkins) and Fiona Dolman (Sarah Barnaby) also reprise their roles, alongside Betty — and the ever-popular Paddy.
Production details
Season 25 is produced by Bentley Productions for ITV, with international distribution by All3Media International.
The writing team includes Julia Gilbert, Maria Ward, Jeff Povey and Helen Jenkins. Episodes are directed by Paul Gibson, Roberto Bangura, Darcia Martin and Matt Carter.
New episodes will stream weekly on Acorn TV.
Why the overseas premiere?
Acorn TV holds the exclusive North American streaming rights to Midsomer Murders and remains a key international partner for the show. In recent years this has often meant that new seasons appear abroad before they do in the UK.
With Series 24 still awaiting transmission on ITV, there is currently no confirmed UK air date for Series 25.
